The Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate programmes (CUET-UG) 2025, initially scheduled to begin on May 8, is likely to be postponed, according to sources within the National Testing Agency (NTA).

While an official announcement is still awaited, the move is reportedly being considered due to logistical challenges faced in conducting the exam as per the original timeline. CUET-UG 2025 was set to run between May 8 and June 1 across hundreds of centres both in India and abroad.

With over 13 lakh students registering annually, CUET-UG is the second-largest entrance exam in India after NEET-UG. The test acts as a single-window admission route for more than 250 universities, including prestigious institutions such as Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, and Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Sources indicate that the tight exam calendar, including concurrent national-level exams like NEET and JEE, is placing a heavy strain on scheduling and logistics, prompting NTA to consider a reschedule.

The NTA, which also conducts NEET and JEE, has not yet issued an official statement regarding the change. Students and institutions across the country are now awaiting confirmation and revised dates.
